Bucharest events in May

Are you travelling to Bucharest for its events? If so, then May is a good month for you, especially if you are interested in the tech industry. Bucharest Technology Week is happening between May 20th until May 26th in the city’s center, at Universității Square. From Capital Plaza Hotel, you can get there in a few minutes by metro. The closest metro station to the hotel is Victoriei, located around 700 meters away which you can walk easily (it’s a straight path) in around 10 minutes. The metro ride is only two stations (Romana and Universitate), so, from your accommodation to the event, you will arrive in no more than 20 minutes.

This is one of Capital Plaza’s advantages. It is located in the city center, on 54 Iancu de Hunedoara Boulevard, and it is within a short walking distance from buses, trams and metro stations which connect you to the rest of the city.

Bucharest Technology Week is one of the freshest Bucharest events and this year marks its third edition.  You can add it to your list of things to do in Bucharest,  as it has many events which you can attend, like business summits, a tech expo and partner events which are happening all over  Bucharest. Other upcoming Bucharest events include the Night of Museums, when all museums are open till around midnight and have free access. Museums within walking distance from Capital Plaza Hotel are The Romanian Peasant’s Museum, The Geology Museum, The Museum of Natural History Grigore Antipa and The George Enescu Museum. The building hosting the George Enescu Museum is called the Cantacuzino Palace, which was built in the Baroque and Art Nouveau style of architecture. It is simply breathtaking and it is highly recommended to visit it on all lists of things to do in Bucharest.

Check out the map of museums which you can visit on the night of May 18th! We should warn you that it is going to be a crowded night, as the Night of Museums is one of the most popular Bucharest events, with thousands of visitors.

On May 18th, during the Night of Museums, an amazing digital art installation will be happening at the Odeon Theatre, 5 minutes away from Universitate. One Night Gallery, which is part of both the Night of Museums and of Bucharest Tech Week, will transform the theatre into a big, interactive playground focusing on the works of Pren, a graphic designer and illustrator which will be doing video mapping. Artificial Intelligence portals will teleport you into Pren’s imaginarium, while music will be playing and drinks will be available on the premises. Don’t miss out on this super cool Bucharest event, happening just 20 minutes away from your accommodation!

Another Bucharest event coming up in May is the Romanian Design Week happening between May 17th – 26th. The guest country of the 2019 edition is France, Romanian Design Week hosting a special exhibition and several events as part of Saison France – Roumanie programme 2019. Going out to party is one of a tourist’s favourite things to do in Bucharest, as the city is famous for its exciting nightlife - there is dancing until dawn in most clubs situated in the Old Town. You can reach the Old Town on foot - it’s a 30 or 20 minute walk away from the hotel, depending on which route you will choose. Or you can get there faster by taking the metro to Universitate, walk past the Russian Church and you will be in the most popular part of the city!
